Thank you for visiting my website. My hope is that you will share in my passion for health and know that I am committed to helping you reach your fitness goals. Unlike some trainers, I believe total health is dependent on mind, body and spirit. I myself am the best testimonial for this statement. I have reached incredible highs and very low-lows, tapping into every aspect of my mind, body and spirit. As a result, I am more than just your average trainer. I am an individual who can relate to the every day challenges of living and still keep focused on one of the most important concepts of life, your health! I am here to help you!
Getting Started
I grew up in North Dakota. In the winter I played hockey and in the summer I water skied. I had the best childhood and now I am having the best adulthood anyone could ever ask for. This is because I am still doing the same things I did as a kid. I appreciate fitness and what it has to offer along with the injuries I’ve endured along the way. In college, I played hockey and injured my knee. Through rehab I was amazed at my muscle development through weight lifting. I became more involved and got into bodybuilding.
Entering Body Building
I entered my first bodybuilding contest, the 1981 Mr. North Dakota competition and won! My next contest in 1983 was the Mr. Southern Colorado competition. I again won! I then entered the Mr. Colorado championship in 1984 and won the light-heavy weight class. Next, I entered the Mr. USA competition in 1985 and placed 8th in my weight class. In 1987 I re-entered the Mr. Colorado bodybuilding championship and won the overall title. Shortly after, I had a hernia operation and had to give up competitive bodybuilding after 7 years of competing.
Flexible yet Determined
Rather than give up, I just shifted gears. Since I had such a blast water skiing as a kid I decided to get back on the skies. I bought a ski boat and started competitive water skiing. In 1992, I entered my 1st water ski competition and won. In 1993, I began training people on a portable slalom course at public lakes. Then in 1995, I became a member of a private water ski lake in southern Colorado. In 1996, I ruptured my bicep tendon. I really believed my skiing days were over. The thought of giving up the very thing that brought me happiness was gone, so I became depressed. I had to tap into my mind, body and spirit to overcome this time in my life. Through this adversity I became a stronger person. Fortunately, I recovered and got back on the skies. In 2002, I won the INT Colorado State Water Ski championship. This was the Advanced Super Slalom Division for the Elite Water Skiers. Then in 2003, I severely broke my ankle skiing. I was told my skiing days were over. Again, I became depressed and had to rely on my spirituality to overcome this adversity. Before long, I was back on skies competing again. In 2007, I won the Tommy’s Water Ski Classic.
Finding the Joy in Fitness
I know life is not all about the competitions. To me, life is about enjoying a healthy lifestyle with family and friends. It also means challenging ourselves to have a better body than we did yesterday. To me, having a better body means being able to enjoy my life more today than yesterday. Today you may be on top of the world, well I say enjoy it. If on the other hand, you find yourself less than on top, have faith and call me. I have been both places and know the road well. Our goals may be different but the desire to have a better body and a better life is the same. I have been so lucky and blessed in my life. The only reason I can rationally think why, is so I can give back and help others. My first consultations are free. I look forward to working with you. Thanks for listening! Now it’s my turn to listen to you.
